(ATTACK ON TITAN)

Annie Leonhardt had taken to her undercover role as a member of the Military Police Brigade fairly well. Granted, she would not be staying in the position for very long. Her mission would require her to eventually depart back home with the 'target' in hand, but for what it was worth, she made use of her time within the Walls' borders as best she could. The Military Police, unlike the Survey Corps, did not actively hunt out Titans to confront and thus kept themselves in assured safety within the city borders. They may be called on by the people to deal with the occasional violent dispute or halt an illegal drug operation, but when there were neither major or minor crimes to prevent, the Military Police spent their time mulling about the barracks. They waited for a threat large enough to give their job some actual meaning. Relaxation was preferable over straining oneself almost all of the time, but even relaxation could, when doled out in large quantities, grow to become a bore as well. Annie hardly ever had anything to do. At best there were days where she spent her time doing little more than menial tasks and chores around the base. At worst she had to listen to her superiors complain over and over about how awful it would be to join the Survey Corps, all the while having the repugnant stench of alcohol wavering on their breath.

One day during lunch break, Annie's dorm mate and so-called ' best friend' Hitch suggested that they went out to eat together. Because they were both members of the Military Police Brigade, they were allowed to use their clout to earn themselves a free meal now and then. It sounded a pretty questionable set-up to Annie, but because the Military Police were humanity's last defense against a Titan onslaught, the common rabble had little other choice but to support their protectors the best that they could. Hitch had grown up in the town where they had been stationed so, as a result, she knew all of the best places to eat off of the top of her head. She made sure to drag Annie out and about to every single eatery that she was aware of. It was the beginning of what ended up becoming a very fulfilling experience for the Titan Shifter, in more ways than one.

At first the meals had been simple ones, nothing too heavy or expensive. Annie wished she had stuck to her guns when she initially denied Hitch's offer to eat out. She had no desire to grow close to anyone within the Military Police Brigade. Especially not Hitch, who was practically the opposite of Annie in nearly every way. Still, for reasons she could no longer recall, Annie eventually relented and accepted. Then she agreed again and again and even again with every following day. She started to put on the weight faster than she had the time to burn it off. Her uniform began to stretch and constrict like bondage around her billowing pot-belly. Her pants grew tighter, her body felt overall heavier, and she started to become less interested in jogging and exercising.

Annie hadn't anticipated that she could be swayed away from her original duties as a warrior so easily, especially not when the temptations were as basic as food. She had a mission to complete and a family to return home to. Yet somewhere along the way, she started to eat more and conspire less. She never forget her goal entirely, to be honest, but what should have stayed in the forefront of her mind was soon relegated to the back, shoved into the dusty and web-covered caverns of 'she'd get around to it eventually'.

While she sat around on her rapidly swelling duff and willfully ignored the creaking of benches and chairs beneath her, the blonde brazenly gorged on meats and cheese and breads of all sorts. Annie no longer required Hitch's accompaniment when she went on her eating sessions throughout town. She did not require Hitch's guidance to find eateries anymore. She did not have the patience to wait for her dorm mate to brush her hair before every outing. It was a mutual agreement between them that they cease eating as a pair, though; Hitch no longer WANTED to eat with Annie at all. Frankly, she was disgusted by how unbelievably obese the other woman had become in such a short period of time. Annie wore a stern and uninterested expression, even as a fatty, that Hitch even found it comical that her friend thought she could still be taken seriously anymore by anyone.

Annie had lost track of her goals, led away from her path by the temptation of food, and now she had to pay for it.

"HAAH...HAAH...ggk...mmph...mm...damn these doughnuts...too good...HAAH...HUFF...ugh...dammit...too much walking..."

Annie continued to breathe heavily through her open mouth as she waddled at a pace that would have made a snail blush. At the same time, she shoveled fried ring of dough after fried ring of dough into her hungry gullet, wanting to keep her energy levels up. She intentionally wanted to avoid running into any of the large crowds occupying the main streets. She didn't want them to have to see her and she didn't want to have to see them. Annie stopped eating temporarily to wipe some sweat off of her forehead with the back of her hand. Soon enough, though, those chubby digits delved back into the bag clutched under her meaty forearm, searching for more sweets she could consume. She was always so hungry these days. She'd never thought that the food made inside these Walls could be so addicting for her. Then again, ever since she was around 5 years old she had done nothing but train, train, train. The food she ate was meant solely to keep up her stamina and provide her body nutrients it needed to grow stronger. She never ate for enjoyment or for the sake of eating like she did now. Not that Annie was all that much pleased with her decision.

In fact, Annie was furious at herself. She didn't want to be like Sasha, who could barely control herself around the presence of freshly-baked bread or roasted potatoes. Yet nowadays she weighed as much as two or three Sashas put together.

After eating what was likely her fifth doughnut in a row, Annie decided that she needed to get herself off of her feet and quickly. Her stomach felt heavy, extremely heavy, and she didn't feel like exhausting herself further when she needed to regain her stamina. A rumbling, wet belch erupted from her lips and went out freely, echoing through the air. She began to groan as her belch gradually died down. Her stomach hung very far out from her stretched white undershirt and it knocked against her chunky knees. Every time they came into contact with one another, her stomach would jolt, upsetting the contents digesting inside and giving Annie a great deal of discomfort. The rest of her body did not conform too much better when constrained in such an ill-fitting uniform, ranging from her chafing inner-thighs to the plentiful back-fat spreading out behind her. It seemed like she would not be able to support herself with the 3D maneuver gear anymore. Soon she would have to request a larger Military Police Brigade jacket..again.

As soon as she spotted an available bench, Annie made a desperate, waddling bee-line straight for it. The bench creaked in agony as the flabby cheeks of her bottom spread across it, but thankfully, the long seat held on strong. Annie hiccuped and she wiped her mouth with a napkin she'd been carrying in her breast-pocket. She felt a lot better now that she was no longer standing. Walking was a pain; she hadn't trained herself for this kind of unending frustration with one's own weight.

Annie sighed. She was tired of all of this. Very tired. She didn't want to have to do any of this anymore. Her sworn duty, the duty that she had no other choice but to fulfill, was to capture Eren Jaeger and bring him back to her leaders. She would finally be done with both this hell-hole and its accursed foodstuffs forever if she could simply accomplish that. Yet the chance available that seemed easiest had passed her by and she had done nothing about it. She would have to resort to some very desperate measures if it meant accomplishing her goal sooner rather than later. Wasting any more time was an option she could not risk taking.

Annie placed the bag of doughnuts beside her on the bench. She decided that, as her own emotions continued to escalate along with her heavy breathing, she would perform an incredibly desperate move. Her original plan had been to attack the Survey Corps during their 57th expedition beyond the Walls, where the target, Eren, would have been most vulnerable. Much to her infinite shame, she had been too caught up shoveling brisket and doughnuts in her fat face to even heave her fat ass out of the Military Police barracks that day. The night before that day she had been introduced to the wonder of doughnuts, even when she had already been well on her way developing as a butterball. Her father would be infinitely ashamed. Just imagining the expression he would wear before her made Annie shudder. Even though Eren was back within the 'safe' confines of the Wall Rose, that didn't mean that she could not take him by surprise.

Annie raised her clenched fist near her mouth. She shook with the kind of tremors that she could feel right down into her bones. What she intended to do here was so unlike her, the bulbous blonde could hardly believe she gave it any genuine thought at all. Yet she was about to do it anyway. She hoped that Reiner, Bertholdt and her father would be able to forgive her. The Survey Corps should be located near the town center, and knowing Eren, he was probably out somewhere in town with Mikasa and Armin. None of them would have their equipment on them, most likely. She may have to crush some innocents underneath her...which she didn't necessarily want to do...but these people were the children of the Devil. It was their fault that she had to do this in the first place.

Annie sank her teeth into her hand and bit it as hard as she possibly could.

"Ow!"

Annie immediately pulled her hand back. She stared at the bite marks on her plump finger. She didn't transform. To become a Titan, she needed to puncture herself with some kind of immediate injury, thus starting a chain reaction leading up to her change. However, she hadn't felt anything except the pain of nearly breaking skin with her teeth. It was rather terrifying when things did not go as one normally expects. Annie decided to try biting herself again. She figured she simply hadn't bit deeply enough. She opened her mouth so wide that it made her chin-rolls collide with her neck-rolls. She bit her hand again. And again. And again. She eventually began to taste blood, but she had only opened a minor wound. Why couldn't she transform? Was she literally too fat to become a Titan anymore? Was that the answer? Did her severe weight gain not only impede her physically, but it would prevent her from completing her mission too?

"No...this...this can't be. I...I need to transform! Now!"

Annie unsheathed the hidden needle inside of her ring, intentionally pricking herself. If biting her hand didn't work, then she had to hope that this would. She waited for a moment, her huge belly wobbling in rhythm with each shaky breath. Then, she started to feel something. It began to take place from within. Annie got excited, but that excitement became anxiety when she realized that this was all wrong. The Titan transformation was supposed to be swift, practically instantaneous, once it was activated. Instead of feeling her body become surrounded by the external flesh that formed the body of her Titan, she could feel the growth taking place...inside her own stomach. Annie's bulging eyes went southbound. She could barely see past her own chest nowadays, but her stomach still stuck out further, and now it appeared that it was growing even more. A ripping sound indicated that her uniform had started to tear itself at the seams, failing spectacularly to cover up her swelling figure. She wasn't becoming a Titan as she wanted, but she was certainly becoming larger.

"No...no...no no no no no no!" Annie could only cry out for so long before she was quickly overwhelmed with more burgeoning fat than she could handle. The bench shattered underneath her and she started to gain more height alongside more width. Her bag of doughnuts spilled its contents all across the stone tiles, but as Annie grew even faster, they were ultimately left forgotten and buried underneath her cascading fatty tissue.

Nile Dok, one of the division commanders overseeing the Military Police Brigade, read through the latest report that he had received in regards to the Survey Corp's recent expedition. Apparently the expedition had gone better than expected, even with an unknown element like Eren Jaeger accompanying them into Titan territory. He was quite impressed as well as relieved, he had to admit. However, that was no reason for him to let down his initial cautions regarding the young man and his mysterious powers. The Titans were still so mysterious, even after a hundred years of studying them. Who knew what sort of heinous schemes and plots they were able to concoct to try and wipe out humanity?

Suddenly, the door of his office was flung wide open. He jumped in his seat with a start. When he turned to address the intruder, he saw only a fellow soldier standing there with sweat on his brow and his mouth agape.

"What the hell is wrong with you, soldier?" barked Niles.

"Sir, there's...there's...I...I don't even know how to describe it! You need to see this!"

"Is it a Titan?" Nile's heart jumped up into his throat when he spoke those words.

The soldier shook his head. "We thought it was at first, but it's not like anything we've ever seen before. It appeared out of nowhere. It just burst up and...and it destroyed buildings...knocked them right over. People have been injured. W-We don't know if anyone is dead, but it's certainly as big as some of the largest Titans we've seen already. Definitely around 14 meters or more! We're just still trying to figure out what it is! I was sent here to get you! So please! It just...it just won't stop jiggling!"

Nile had no idea what to make of the soldier's strange words. He had to go and see this for himself. He could only hope, as he left to fetch his 3D maneuver gear, that it didn't have a mouth and teeth to devour them too.

An Attack on Titan short story that I wrote a little while ago, but I had not posted it until now. It is about Annie Leonhardt, who we haven't seen in the series since volume 8 or the end of season 1, quite a long time ago, but I figured that her and her unique condition would make a good choice for a story. I'm not obsessed with the series by any means, but I've always thought that the it's setting and plot would make for a good video game, and I have enjoyed the recent one developed by Koei Tecmo. So I wrote this story partially because of that, and also because the manga's recent events, revealing the biggest mysteries of the story, got me intrigued in wanting to see more for once. Hopefully you all enjoy it! Please let me know what you think!
